There are more than 300 wineries in Pennsylvania Wine Land and almost all of them welcome visitors for tastings. Picture the sun cutting through a glass of award-winning wine — the grapes grown just steps from where you’re sitting.

Adams County Winery

Adams County Winery opened its doors in 1975 in Orrtanna, PA and is currently Pennsylvania’s fifth oldest operating winery. The Farm Winery sits on more than 75 beautiful acres of never ending rolling hills and farmland.

The winery operates out of an 1860’s bank barn and is a registered historic bank barn of Adams County. In 1988, our Tears of Gettysburg was born and remains one of the oldest wines in Pennsylvania. Our vineyard is home to five different varieties of grapes, spanning more than 12.5 acres.

Discover Antietam Creek Vineyards: A Journey from Abandoned Dairy Farm to Premier Winery

Antietam Creek Vineyards, nestled next to the historic Antietam National Battlefield, began its transformation from an abandoned 55-acre dairy farm in 2010. After acquiring the land, our dedicated owners meticulously cultivated the soil, tested microclimates, and constructed a deer fence to protect our vines. By 2011, the first of our 4.5 acres of vines were planted.

The South East typically experiences a longer growing season and higher temperatures. The generally hilly terrain of the region offers opportunities for vineyards with south-facing slopes that aid in draining water and maintaining airflow that encourages grapevines to flourish.
