What time can I check in, and what if I arrive later?

Check-in is 3:00 PM–9:00 PM. If you can't make it in that window, you must arrange it in advance with the innkeepers.

What time is check-out?

11:00 AM.

What's the deposit for a standard room reservation?

One night's deposit per room, due at booking.

What's the refund policy for standard rooms?

Reservations made 7+ days before arrival: deposit refunded if cancelled at least 7 days prior. Reservations made less than 7 days before arrival: no refunds, full payment due at booking, and the reservation is final.

What happens if I cancel a standard room or don't show up?

Cancelling on or before arrival: $30 per room charge. No-shows: $30 per room charge, and if it's within the non-refundable window, you forfeit all deposits and owe for all rooms/nights reserved.

When is my remaining balance charged?

The evening before departure, to the card on file, with a receipt emailed to you.

What are the deposit and payment rules for special events (Cheesemaking, Quilting, Art Retreat, Murder Mystery Weekend)?

50% deposit at booking (full payment if booked within 30 days of the event). Full balance is due 30 days before arrival, auto-charged to the card on file.

What's the cancellation policy for these events?

30+ days' notice: deposit refunded minus a $30 per room fee. Less than 30 days: no refund, full responsibility for rooms/nights booked. A minimum stay may apply, and it's first come, first served with no waiting lists.

What are the deposit and payment rules for Mercersburg Academy Alumni/Reunion Weekends?

50% deposit at booking (full payment if booked within 30 days). Full balance due 45 days before arrival. 2-night minimum stay required.

What's the cancellation policy for Alumni/Reunion Weekends?

45+ days' notice: refund minus $30 per room fee. Less than 45 days: no refund, full responsibility for rooms/nights.

What are the deposit and payment rules for Graduation/Family-Parents' Weekend?

50% deposit at booking (full payment if booked within 30 days). Full balance due 60 days before arrival. 2-night minimum stay required. First come, first served, no waiting lists.

What's the cancellation policy for Graduation Weekend?

60+ days' notice: refund minus $30 per room fee. Less than 60 days: no refund, full responsibility for rooms/nights.

Guest Experience & Property Policies

Is breakfast included?

Yes — a complimentary 3-course breakfast is served daily from 8:00–9:30 AM.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

No — liquor laws prohibit it. The Inn has a full-service bar and extensive wine list instead.

Is smoking allowed?

No, not inside the Inn. Smoking damage is the guest's responsibility and may trigger a $250 cleaning fee.

Are there elevators?

No. Rooms are on the second and third floors, accessible only by stairs, and there's no bell service for luggage.

Is there a minimum age for children?

Yes, children 5 and older are welcome.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, in two pet-friendly accommodations: Carriage House North and Carriage House South.

What if I damage the property?

Damage beyond normal wear and tear is charged to the credit card on file.

Fees & Extra Charges

What's the rate structure for occupancy?

Published rates are based on double occupancy; additional guests are $30/night, up to the room's occupancy limit.

What if I need to move charges to a different credit card?

A 6% fee applies.

What if I lose my room key?

A $15 charge applies.

What if my check bounces?

A $50 returned check fee applies.
