Come Join Kathy Gardner's Quilting at the Inn!

Meet Kathy Winslow Gardner!

Kathy resides in Wilmington, DE with her husband, Jim, and Yorkshire terrier, Shadow. She took her first quilt class in 1990, while living in Everett, WA, as a challenge to explore her creativity.

"I quickly fell in love with fabric, texture, and color, and I never stopped quilting." In 2000, she became a fabric and notions rep and sold fabric for 12 different companies. Her pattern, "Delaware Diamonds," is a perfect example of her love for playing with fabric and texture to achieve different effects and patterns within the same block. Kathy's work has been published in "Patchwork Pantry" and McCall's Quilting.

Kathy challenges you to come quilt, play, and explore fabric with her to create your own unique style.

Evanescence Kaleidoscope Quilt

Join us in September to make this fabulous quilt (73 1/2" x 102 1/2") with just 1 piece of fabric. This incredible fabric and quilt were designed by Jason Yenter of In The Beginning Fabrics. Beautiful depth of color and just one border print make up the entire quilt top. This will be completed in one weekend! Kits provided by the instructor.

Women Who Bind Us Together
A Family Tree of Faith

This quilt and the pattern are representative of Biblical women. Their personal humanness, characteristics, and situations are not so different from ours today. Throughout their stories, you will find situations and events you may relate to. Each block represents a different woman. Symbolism is woven throughout the quilt. The braided tree trunk represents how we are woven together. Blocks like the "Garden of Eden" block are traditional quilt blocks with their own symbolism. That block traditionally has a red center square representing 'the apple' and four rivers flowing out from the center. Some blocks I chose for women who did not have a one named for them. For example, I chose a 'Double Crown' for Queen Esther. Each block will be explained in the booklet.
