A wonderful day trip activity and guest favorite here in Mercersburg is exploring the many antique shops in Pennsylvania and neighboring states. In fact, you could easily plan an entire weekend around unique shopping and treasure hunting. Or rather, we can easily plan it for you. All you have to do is book your stay at our romantic Mercersburg bed and breakfast and choose your desired route! (And maybe bring an extra suitcase depending on how ambitious you are.)
Day 1: Welcome to Mercersburg Inn!
After you check in at the Inn, take your time to settle into your beautiful room or suite and explore the grounds. Indulge in some in-room treats and maybe treat yourselves to a romantic date night. After a memorable meal at Byron’s Dining Room, you’ll be ready for a good night sleep. You’ll need some rest before your big day of antiquing!
Day 2: South/East Route
Be sure to join us for a delicious breakfast in our dining room before you head out on your shopping adventure! We recommend a full day for this route as it involves the most driving.
Beaver Creek Antique Market
20202 National Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740
A true antique shopper’s paradise, get off the beaten track and visit this impressively large mall featuring a unique collection of antiques, collectibles, and flea market finds. Beaver Creek is located about 25 miles south of the Inn in Hagerstown, Maryland and is open daily 10am-5pm.
112 East Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701
About 24 miles southeast of Hagerstown is the Emporium, a 55,000 square foot old brick building in historic downtown Frederick, Maryland. Filled to the brim with fine antiques and stunning vintage home furnishings, you could spend hours here. Many furniture pieces at the Inn were found here. The Antique Emporium is open Monday-Saturday 11am-6pm and Sundays 12pm-5pm.
144 Runnymeade Rd. Bunker Hill, WV 25413
Just under 40 miles west of Emporium Antiques and 46 miles south of Mercersburg Inn, Bunker Hill Antiques is definitely worth the drive. Named “Outstanding Antique Store” by the Martinsburg Journal 12 years in a row now, this is another spot you could spend an entire day exploring. This place is gigantic and very well maintained. You can find everything here, and then some. Plus, the owners, Bill and Monica Bowen are such a delight. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to meet them. We especially recommend heading to Bunker Hill if you’re a sports fan or shopping for one as there is a very impressive collection of sports memorabilia. Open 10am-5pm 7 days a week!
Day 3: North/East Route
Don’t forget to have your coffee and breakfast before you head out on Part 2 of your antiquing adventure! If you’d like to check out of your room early, you’re welcome to leave your luggage with us so you can take your time shopping or, depending on where you’re headed, you can stop at these antique stores on your way out of town.
3055 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 (Located in the Chambersburg Mall)
After your visit at Greencastle, head 12 miles north to Chambersburg, PA and be sure to stop into Black Rose Antiques. This place is quite large and offers a wide variety of booths. Open 10am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 10am-9pm Friday & Saturday, and 12pm-5pm on Sundays, this is one of the only late night antique shopping spots in the area.
3653 Lincoln Way E, Fayetteville, PA 17222
Just another 7 miles north of Chambersburg is Fayetteville and its awesome antiques and craft mall. This establishment has a more rustic charm and for our crafty shoppers, this is a fantastic place to browse around and find inspiration, in addition to incredible antiques. Fayetteville Antiques & Craft Mall is open 9am-5pm every day.
